Rihanna and Drake Team up for New Single – WORK!

Published by:

Bad Girl RiRi is at it again! She is working it, this time with Drake on a new single that is burning up the charts!

Rihanna just debuted her new single, “Work,” featuring Drake on all iHeartRadio stations across the country. This latest connection between Drake and RiRi has also been rumored for a little bit now, as footage of them shooting a video for the song at a mall in California surfaced earlier this month, according to ComPlex.

“Work” has a nice beat and is not the typical Rihanna upbeat dance grove song, but still she brings it with her amazing vocals. Drake adds his power vocals to the track and the two sound dynamic as they go back and forth. It’s a thrill ride for sure. The song is produced by Boi-1da.

Listen to the song via Tidal here. The single is also available to purchase on iTunes here.

Corey Hawkins knows how to keep it moving.

Fresh off his arc on the hugely popular AMC series The Walking Dead and as Dr. Dre in the blockbuster film Straight Outta Compton, the star just inked a deal as the male lead in 24: Legacy.

The new Fox show is a reboot of the previous 24, but with new faces and characters led by Eric Carter (Hawkins), reports Deadline.

24: Legacy, directed by Stephen Hopkins (who worked on the original 24 pilot), and written by 24 veterans Manny Coto and Evan Katz. The new 24: Legacy centers on military hero Eric Carter (Hawkins) and chronicles his return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back – compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil.

Earlier this month, FOX ordered a pilot for 24: Legacy. Legacy will retain 24’s signature one episode and one hour format. Dana Walden said “never say never” to appearances from the original series’ characters.

The Juilliard graduate will next be seen in Legendary’s Kong: Skull Island.

Judith Hill To Perform at Grammy Museum LA February 22nd

Published by:

GRAMMY-winning soul singer/songwriter Judith Hill has shared her musical gifts in a variety of ways.

The Los Angeles native has been a background singer for such legends as Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr, and the late Michael Jackson, serving as the latter’s duet partner on the classic ballad, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” which later became a highlight of Jackson’s posthumously released film This Is It. She also appeared in the Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom, which earned her a GRAMMY for Best Music Film.

Hill subsequently appeared on The Voice, where she began to cement her identity as a solo artist with a series of knockout performances that showcased her ability to put her own unique spin on familiar songs. After seeing an interview with Hill, during which the singer expressed her desire to collaborate with Prince, the GRAMMY-winning artist called Hill personally and said he’d love to work with her.

Prince played on and co-produced (with Hill) Judith’s debut solo album, Back in Time, which showcases Hill’s soulful, powerhouse voice and considerable songwriting prowess, with smart, deeply felt songs about racial injustice and overcoming struggle, nestled comfortably alongside supremely funky party jams that Hill says are a celebration of music, community, and family.

Following her captivating performance at the “Earth in Concert: Protecting the Planet Through Music” benefit in November 2015, the GRAMMY Museum is excited to welcome back Judith Hill to the Clive Davis Theater for a special night of music and conversation.

Hill is set to perform on Feb. 22nd at the Grammy Museum LA, which is located at 800 W OLYMPIC BLVD, LOS ANGELES, CA at 8 p.m.

Oscars Make Plans to increase diversity

Published by:

The Oscars are trying to turn things around, in the wake of this year’s nominations where no actor of color was recognized in any of the four acting categories.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Friday, it will add three seats to its 51-person board in an effort to double the number of minorities and women in the Academy by 2020, according to Variety.

It also met with African-American host Chris Rock to make sure he’s still on board. Rock, has been under pressure to drop out as host from many credible people of power in the entertainment industry as the fall-out continues.

Variety points out that, of 305 eligible films this year, only a handful were made by minority directors, and fewer were directed by women.

Beginning later in 2016, new member’s voting rights will last 10 years and be renewed only if that member has been active in film. Members will get lifetime voting rights after three 10-year-terms, or if they’ve been nominated for an Oscar, the report revealed.

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs said, “The Academy is going to lead and not wait for the industry to catch up. These new measures regarding governance and voting will have an immediate impact and begin the process of significantly changing our membership composition.”

The board made the changes in an emergency meeting Thursday night, as an undeniable response to the controversy over the Oscar nominations being so white. The Academy will also launch a new campaign aimed at increasing diversity.

Power players Jada Pinkett Smith, and honorary Oscar Winner Spike Lee have posted on social media that they will not be attending this year’s ceremony.
