Rihanna Lands 14th Number One Song with “Work”

Published by:

Go RiRi! Rihanna just landed her 14th Number one song. The “Work” singer just kicked the King of Pop Michael Jackson to the curb and landed in third place for all time top number one hits, only coming in after The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (18).

“Work” — the 28-year-old’s recent collaboration with “Hotline Bling” singer Drake — topped the Billboard singles chart on Monday.

The “Only Girl in The World” singer’s latest album “Anti,” which was released last month, is also at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

RiRi took to social media to celebrate the news.

“Navy you killed it this week! #NavyRDie,” she tweeted to her masses of followers.

On Instagram, she added humor by posting a video of Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin shaking their rear ends.

“When me and squad found out we were number one on Billboard this week,” she wrote in the hilarious post, along with the hashtag “Work.”

The dog-gone-girl is bad. She’s bad! Bad Gal RiRi…

Judge Orders Camille Cosby to Give Deposition

Judge Orders Camille Cosby to Give Deposition, Rejecting Her Latest Effort to Delay Testimony in Defamation Case Against Husband
Judge Orders Camille Cosby to Give Deposition, Rejecting Her Latest Effort to Delay Testimony in Defamation Case Against Husband

Rejecting Camille Cosby’s latest effort to delay, a federal judge ruled Friday that she must testify Monday in a defamation lawsuit filed against her husband Bill Cosby by seven women who claim they were victims of his alleged assaults.

The testimony Monday will take place outside of court, reports WWLP.

In a document filed Friday in U.S. District Court, Mrs. Cosby’s lawyers had sought to postpone her deposition, writing, “Mrs. Cosby renews her motion for a protective order staying her deposition until the parties and the purported spokespeople have been deposed, and limiting the scope of Mrs. Cosby’s deposition to discoverable topics that are not addressed by these deponents.”

The request came a week after U.S. District Judge Mark Mastroianna ruled Feb. 11 that Mrs. Cosby must answer at least some questions in a deposition about the case, rejecting the argument by Mrs. Cosby’s legal team that marital privilege protects her.

The defamation suit was first brought by Andrea Constand and then joined by the others, all of whom say Cosby, 78, drugged and/or sexually assaulted them.

Cosby has separately been charged with allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting Constand in January 2004 at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, home. More recently, Cosby filed a breach of contract lawsuit Feb. 1 against Constand and her mother, claiming they violated a confidentiality agreement negotiated in 2006.

Cosby’s breach of contract suit also names Constand’s attorneys and the National Enquirer for reporting on claims by Constand and others “despite its clear contractual obligations to not publish any stories relating to certain allegations against Mr. Cosby.”

Constand’s settlement and confidentiality agreement were reached after Constand had sued Enquirer-publisher American Media, Inc., and Cosby for defamation in 2005.

The criminal case against Cosby is based in part on revelations shared by Constand when she spoke to the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, district attorney’s office last summer about the alleged 2004 incident. Although no criminal charges were filed when Constand initially raised her allegations, she later was joined by a chorus of more than 50 women who allege they, too, were victims of the entertainer, who personally or through his attorneys has denied each allegation.

Kim Kardashian and Amber Rose had a secret meeting Monday to bury the hatchet in the Wiz+Amber+Kanye saga…… TMZ has learned.

Both Amber and Kim posted this pic on their respective social media accounts early Tuesday morning, showing they have settled the score. As TMZ reported, the war started when Wiz called out Kanye over his new album and Kanye then went off denigrating Amber — calling her a stripper and even dragging her son into the beef.

TMZ’s Amber sources say Kim called her Monday afternoon and asked to meet at Kris Jenner’s house early that evening. Amber accepted the invite, and the 2 hashed things out. TMZ reported that after a long conversation they’re both good with each other.

“The Birth of a Nation,” Nate Parker’s directorial debut, which premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival won several Awards Saturday night in Park City, Utah. According to ABC News, the film received a standing ovation during its screening. The film is centered on the true story of how slave Nat Turner led a rebellion in 1831.

Fox Searchlight announced Tuesday it won a record-making bidding war to acquire the film’s worldwide distribution rights. The studio expects to release the project by Parker, who also wrote, produced and starred in the film, later this year.

“The Birth of Nation” marks the fourth time a film has won the top categories — the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize — at Sundance. The film now joins the likes of others such as the 2013 film “Fruitvale Station,” the 2014 film “Whiplash” and the 2015 film “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.”

Tyrese Suggests Chris Rock Should Not Host Oscars Due to Lack of Diversity

Tyrese Suggests Chris Rock Should Not Host Oscars Due to Lack of Diversity

Tyrese was one of the first to speak out in support of boycotting the Oscars after it was revealed that all the acting nominations went to white performers for the second year in a row. Now, he appears to be questioning whether comedian Chris Rock should be hosting the awards show.

On Monday, Martin Luther King Day, Tyrese went on a rant about those choosing not to protest the awards show. “Is Chris Rock still gonna host the Oscars after this blatant racism?? Is everyone still gonna show up?? In this town, I guess it takes homosexuals to be discriminated against in order for someone to finally step UP and wanna do something,” he declared. “You have to take your hat off to the homosexual and gay community cause right now they’re as strong as black people USE to be when it comes to their rights.”

On Wednesday, Tyrese continued his argument, writing: “If Andy Cohen of [Watch What Happens Live] was hosting the Oscars and they purposely left out all gays and or homosexuals from being nominated, HE would of stepped down already. This is a #fact.”

In 2015, no gay men or women were nominated in the acting categories at the Oscars, but Neil Patrick Harris, a homosexual man, hosted the awards show. At this year’s Academy Awards, not one LGBT person was nominated in the four acting categories.

The 37-year-old Furious 7 actor went on to say that while he wholeheartedly supports the boycott of the Oscars, he still thinks Leonardo DiCaprio deserves to win for his role in The Revenant. “For the record… I HATE that this is all happening on the year that Leonardo DiCaprio is gonna win his first Oscar for BEST ACTOR,” Tyrese quipped. “Leo looooooveeessssss black people!!!!!! Leo in my homie!!!!!”

However, not everyone agrees with Tyrese about boycotting the Academy Awards. “I don’t know if avoiding it altogether is going to help, but I just think we have to continue to move forward,” Niecy Nash told ET at the Critics’ Choice Awards. “We have this awareness and this spotlight — we’ve got to look at other work. There’s other work out there that I think was missed. We’ve just got to do better.”

Jada Pinkett Smith puts the Academy Awards on Blast

Published by:

Jada Pinkett Smith has voiced her opinion of the ‘Oscars so white’ feud in a very public way. The wife of Will Smith, 2016 Oscar snub nominee, released a two minute video Monday that voiced her opinion about the Academy Awards. In the video, Jaden and Willow’s mom, sat down calmly and spoke directly into a video monitor asking a question, “Is it time that people of color recognize, influence, that we have amassed that we no longer need to ask to be invited anywhere?”

The actress continues by saying, “I ask the question, have we now come to a new time and place where we recognize that we can no longer beg for the love, acknowledge or respect of any group. That maybe it’s time that we recognize that if we love and respect, and acknowledge ourselves in a way in which we are asking others to do, that [that] is the place of true power.”

Smith says she believes, “The Academy has the right to acknowledge whomever they choose. To invite whomever they choose. And, now I think that it’s our responsibility [now] to make the change. Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream.”

She went on with more powerful words. She ended by acknowledging Chris Rock, who is set to host the Oscars for a second time. In her shout out to Rock, Smith said, “Hey Chris, I will not be at the Academy Awards and I won’t be watching, but I can’t think of a better man to do the job at hand this year but you my friend, good luck.” Smith acknowledged the viewers by saying, “And to the rest of you, nothing but love, always.”

Legendary Director Spike Lee will not attend the Oscars. The filmmaker is the latest in a long line of entertainment industry power houses to voice an opinion of the Academy Awards not recognizing people of color.

The outcry over African-American actors being snubbed from this year’s Oscars hopefuls has reached a breaking point, especially on social media where the hashtag, “Oscars So White” has brought more attention to the omission of black actors for the awards show.

On Monday, the director announced that he would not be attending the ceremony on Feb. 28.

Via Instagram, Lee asked how it was possible that there were no nominations for black actors for the second year running. After revealing that he nor his wife would attend the esteemed awards show, Lee added, “Dr. King said, “There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but he must take it because conscience tells him it’s right.”

The Hollywood legend accepted an honorary Oscar in November for his collective body of work. He did offer these words in the post, “I would like to thank President Cheryl Boone Isaacs and the Board of Governors of The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences for awarding me an Honorary Oscar this past November. I am most appreciative. However my wife, Mrs. Tonya Lewis Lee and I will not be attending the Oscar ceremony this coming February. We cannot support it and mean no disrespect to my friends, host Chris Rock and Producer Reggie Hudlin, President Isaacs and The Academy.”
