Stacey Dash Speaks Out on Oscars’ Lack of Diversity: ‘It’s Ludicrous’

Stacey Dash Speaks Out on Oscars’ Lack of Diversity: ‘It’s Ludicrous’

Stacey Dash has a lot to say about the lack of diversity among this year’s Oscar nominees.

On Wednesday, the Clueless actress and Fox News contributor expressed her outrage over the fact that, once again, only white performers made the cut while chatting with Steve Doocy on Fox & Friends.

“I think it’s ludicrous,” she said. “Because we have to make up our minds. Either we want segregation or integration.”

The outspoken actress, who turned 49 on Wednesday, also stated that she’s glad the issue has finally received some attention, but in order for things to change, we need to get rid of the “double standard” currently in place.

“If we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET, and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re black,” she explained. “If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It’s a double standard.”

Dash continued on, arguing that because there’s no White History Month, a Black History Month shouldn’t exist either.

“What I find astounding is that we’ve had a president who is black in office for the past eight years, who gets most of his funding from the liberal elite in Hollywood,” she added, referring to President Barack Obama. “Yet, there are not very many roles for people of color. How can that be? And why is it just now being addressed?”

A few celebrities, including Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith, are boycotting this year’s ceremony, as they are frustrated that an all-white list of nominees in the acting categories was announced for the second year in a row. Doocy brought up the fact that he understands why Smith would be angry, as her husband, Will Smith, wasn’t nominated for his role in Concussion.

“He did a great job in the movie, but at the same time, what does that say about how people are selected for these awards?” Doocy asked Dash.

“Right. That’s assuming they’re selected by race, which I think would be a disservice to the people who are looking at the films and making the choices,” she said. “Maybe [the Academy] need[s] to be more, you know, integrated, and there needs to be more diverse people in the process of electing.”

Doocy then explained that, although the Academy demographics are kept secret, he claims they are “predominately white males” based on investigations that have come to light.

“I hope they’re looking for the best movies and the best actors,” Dash said in response to Doocy’s statement. “The good news is, there’s attention brought to it now. But, like I said, over the past eight years, we’ve had a president who’s black, who gets his funding mainly from Hollywood. ‘The elite liberals.’ So, it’s odd to me that this has now become such an issue.”

This, of course, isn’t the first time Dash has spoken out against issues she’s passionate about. Last February, she also made an appearance on Fox & Friends where she revealed she was “appalled” by the 2015 Academy Awards ceremony, specifically calling out Patricia Arquette for her lack of history knowledge.

Last month, Dash was suspended for two weeks by Fox News after delivering NSFW language on-air while talking about Obama’s speech on terrorism one night earlier.

R. Kelly Compares Himself to Bill Cosby — ‘the Good One’ — and Other Revelations From His GQ Story

Published by:

R. Kelly (Photo: Getty Images)

As acknowledged early in Chris Heath’s GQ profile of R. Kelly, the singer has never really spoken much about the various accusations lobbed against him throughout his career: alleged sex with minors, a marriage to a then-underage Aaliyah, that sex tape. Recently, R. Kelly walked off the set of HuffPost Live after repeatedly refusing to answer any questions about the controversies that have clouded his career. However, Kelly agreed to talk about all of it in a three-day interview featured in GQ’s February issue.

Speaking to the sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of a female relative as a child, Kelly refers to a “generational curse” within his family in which victims grow up to be victimizers, the obvious elephant in the room being the multiple women who’ve alleged that Kelly had sex with them before they were 18.

Responding to this later, Kelly opens up a whole new can of worms:

Generational curse doesn’t mean that the curse can’t be broken. Just like having no father, that’s a generational curse. Which is why, when my kids were born, I was Bill Cosby in the house. You know, the good one. You know, let’s be clear there: how we saw Bill Cosby when we were coming up.

Also like Cosby, Kelly has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing with any of his accusers; he has never been convicted of a crime relating to any of the accusations made against him.

I think, man, abso-effing-lutely I’ve been treated unfair. Yes. I’m not, you know, this innocent guy with a halo over his head. No, I love women. Do I like to sleep with underage girls? Absolutely not. I’ve said it a million times. But do I have people trying to destroy my career? Absolutely.

As for the 50+ accusations of sexual assault lobbed against Cosby, R. Kelly claims he’s not sure.

“Well, my opinion on that is, I don’t know what happened,” Kelly says. “[A]ll I can say is that it was a long time ago. And when I look on TV and I see the 70-, 80-, 90-year-old ladies talking about what happened when they were 17, 18, or 19, there’s something strange about it. … [W]hen you wait 70 years, 50 years, 40 years, to say something that simple, it’s strange. You know why I say that is because it happened to me, and it wasn’t true.”

Kelly also speaks — almost — to the rumor that he married Aaliyah when she was 15 and he was 27, saying that he doesn’t speak about it at the behest of her parents. (Aaliyah died in a plane crash in 2001 when she was 22.)

Well, unfortunately when there’s two parties involved in any situation, both parties have to be respected. Sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself in a way to respect someone else’s wishes, and to respect someone else’s passing…. People can say, “Hey, well, he’s just trying to protect hisself.” Well, I have nothing to protect myself from. I’m still successful.

Jamie Foxx to the rescue. No joking matter.

Oscar Winner and Comedian Jamie Foxx rescued a man from a burning vehicle fire Monday night. The A-lister’s rep confirmed to FOX411 that the actor rushed to the rescue after a fiery car crash took place outside his Los Angeles home.

According to TMZ, a car skidded and flipped and ended up outside Foxx’s gate around 8:30 p.m.

The star reportedly called 911 and then raced to the scene to help. TMZ reports Foxx told police he feared the car would explode so he dragged the driver, who had been buckled in his seat, out of the car and moved him 30 feet away from the vehicle.

Firefighters and emergency personnel reportedly arrived to the scene a short while later.

Foxx’s rep declined to provide a statement from the actor or any further information.

Your Guide to Meek Mill’s Latest Feud, This Time With 50 Cent

Published by:

Meek Mill and 50 Cent (Photos: Getty Images)

Part-time rapper and full-time internet troll Meek Mill is at it again. This time he and 50 Cent are feuding because there wasn’t anything good on TV and they were both out of lives on Candy Crush.

In a track on Meek’s new EP 4/4 called “Gave ‘Em Hope,” the Philly rapper takes several digs at 50 Cent, the most incendiary accusation being that 50 Cent is gay, which is something that rival rappers have been saying about 50 for years. “I got 50 reasons say you’re taking dick,” Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend raps in the second verse.

And so the two were off.

Round One

In a series of Instagram posts, 50 fired back at Meek: “LMAO Hey s**t head, your career is over already,” 50 wrote. “You better focus on getting Nikki [sic] pregnant so you can at least get child support.”

(Photo: Instagram)

50 also began referring to Meek Mill as “Meeka,” posting a photo of Meek Mill’s face Photoshopped onto a woman’s body, referencing Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover. In several other posts, 50 repeatedly called Meek “retarded.”

The Winner: Admittedly, 50 set a low bar, managing to be transphobic, ableist, and misspelling the name of one of the biggest rappers in the game all at once. This one goes to Meek.

Round Two

As he did with Meek’s last feud, Toronto politician Norm Kelly got involved, tweeting at Meek a photo of himself holding the letter “L,” as in loser.

In a lengthy response, Meek Mill posted a photo of himself holding just a whole bunch of cash, addressing both 50 and Norm’s disses.

“Ya son hate you smfh!” Meek wrote of 50. “Ya swag on below ‘0’ lol hold up….. U always hating on [P]uff [Daddy] and Hov [Jay Z] other go getters from ya city…… U going broke and you miserable …. U really miserable bro…. You like 40 on the internet all day.”

As for Norm Kelly, Meek called him an “old white racist man.”

Kelly fired back, posting Meek’s photo on Twitter writing, “When your girl lets you take pics with her money.”

The Winner: It’s Norm, guys.

Round Three

After a night at Pole-A-Thon in Dallas (sure), 50 got back to blasting Meek, posting a mock program from his funeral on Instagram.

At this point, someone tweeted both Meek and 50, saying that there were more important issues at hand, namely the toxic tap water in Flint, Michigan.

Meek responded on Instagram, saying he’d donate $50,000 to help the city out. 50 also responded, but with another meme, instead of a contribution. “You know you only trying to donate so you can try and use it in court 💩head,” he wrote. “You don’t have money to give away. When Nikki [again, sic] find out you playing with her money boy, oh boy your [sic] in for it.”

The Winner: Is Meek going to pull through with a win???

Round Four

In a post, ironically, on Instagram, The Game criticized the online nature of Meek and 50’s feud which, as you may have noticed, has only involved one song but a whole host of memes.

“So, this is what it’s come to these days???” The Game wrote. “WTF happened to REAL hip hop & the classic way of handling rap feuds??? Never thought I’d see the day when rap beefs were won over iPhone apps & s**t. We went from learning from & respecting the O.G.’s to learning from & depending on I.G.’s lol.”

Jada Pinkett Smith puts the Academy Awards on Blast

Published by:

Jada Pinkett Smith has voiced her opinion of the ‘Oscars so white’ feud in a very public way. The wife of Will Smith, 2016 Oscar snub nominee, released a two minute video Monday that voiced her opinion about the Academy Awards. In the video, Jaden and Willow’s mom, sat down calmly and spoke directly into a video monitor asking a question, “Is it time that people of color recognize, influence, that we have amassed that we no longer need to ask to be invited anywhere?”

The actress continues by saying, “I ask the question, have we now come to a new time and place where we recognize that we can no longer beg for the love, acknowledge or respect of any group. That maybe it’s time that we recognize that if we love and respect, and acknowledge ourselves in a way in which we are asking others to do, that [that] is the place of true power.”

Smith says she believes, “The Academy has the right to acknowledge whomever they choose. To invite whomever they choose. And, now I think that it’s our responsibility [now] to make the change. Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream.”

She went on with more powerful words. She ended by acknowledging Chris Rock, who is set to host the Oscars for a second time. In her shout out to Rock, Smith said, “Hey Chris, I will not be at the Academy Awards and I won’t be watching, but I can’t think of a better man to do the job at hand this year but you my friend, good luck.” Smith acknowledged the viewers by saying, “And to the rest of you, nothing but love, always.”
