We can all learn something from Comedian Steve Harvey. The lesson is, it is never too late to turn things around.
In an infamous pageant moment at last night’s NBC Miss Universe Pageant, host Steve Harvey announced the incorrect pageant winner. The final two contestants, Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines were awaiting the results when Harvey read aloud the winner was Miss Colombia when in fact it was Miss Philippines.
After being crowned, Miss Columbia, Ariadna Gutierez, had to return to the front of the stage to relinquish her prize. Meanwhile, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, from the Philippines, was then crowned the actual winner. The entire ordeal was awkward, and suspenseful. Both contestants stood onstage stunned and confused. As the audience responded with mixed reactions, Harvey took control of the situation expressing to them not to take his error out on the girls.
In a series of tweets Harvey offered his apology for the mix-up.
Harvey later apologized to Miss Philippines personally off stage and again at a Fox news conference, again saying it was an honest mistake. Much respect was given to Harvey with a wide internet audience of supporters praising him for facing the error head on.
Talk about owning up and making it right.
