Entertainment, Media And Fashion Celebrities Raise Awareness At Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection 2016 Fashion Show Presented By Macy’s

Published by:

The American Heart Association announced today that the Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection 2016 presented by Macy’s will return to New York Fashion Week at Skylight at Moynihan Station on Thursday, February 11, 2016. The fashion show begins at 8 p.m. ET and is slated to feature more than 20 celebrities in couture gowns by top fashion designers.

In an effort to amplify the message of heart health nationwide, the runway show will be preceded by a Livestream pre-show that will feature live interviews with celebrities and designers from the red carpet, take viewers at home behind-the-scenes, and even offer some tips for staying heart healthy, too. The Livestream will air on GoRedForWomen.org as well as Macys.com.

Walking in this year’s Go Red For Women’s Red Dress Collection presented by Macy’s are: Candace Cameron Bure (Full House, Fuller House); Debbie Gibson (musician/producer); Florence Henderson (The Brady Bunch); Fran Drescher (The Nanny, Happily Divorced); Gail Simmons (Top Chef); Gigi Gorgeous (model/social media personality); Kit Hoover (co-host of Access Hollywood Live); Lele Pons (social media personality); Madison Beer (musician); Marilu Henner (actress); Monica (singer); Olivia Culpo (Miss USA 2012); Skylar Diggins (WNBA basketball player); Soleil Moon Frye (blogger/Punky Brewster); Ta’Rhonda Jones (Empire); Tamron Hall (NBC’s TODAY & MSNBC’s NewsNation); and Vanna White (Wheel of Fortune).

“The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement truly appreciates the opportunity to be a part of New York Fashion Week. The aim here is simple: to make heart health and a Well-Woman Visit this season’s must-haves from the runway,” said Nancy Brown, Chief Executive Officer, American Heart Association. “We are so thankful to all of the wonderful celebrities walking in this year’s Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection who are both supporting our cause and driving awareness around the need for women to schedule a Well-Woman Visit to fully understand their risks for heart disease and stroke.”

The facts are clear: heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year – more than all cancers combined. The good news is that 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. The most important action: taking advantage of a Well-Woman Visit, an annual check-up that can provide personal health information and help assess risk factors for heart disease and stroke.

Macy’s, the founding national sponsor of Go Red For Women, is the presenting sponsor of the Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection. Macy’s has raised more than $55 million through the generosity and commitment of Macy’s associates and customers, which has helped fund women’s heart health research and education.

“The Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection is such a special fashion show that touches the hearts of so many,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “The celebrities really are walking for a cause all the while inspiring millions to go red. We are thrilled to continue to sponsor the Collection and have our three emerging Fashion Incubator designers showcase their talents for three celebrities.”

The Go Red For Women Red Dress Collection 2016 presented by Macy’s features three looks from designers in the not-for-profit, independently-run Fashion Incubator Programs housed at Macy’s: Conrad Booker from Philadelphia, Kajan “Cake” Carlos from San Francisco and Grace Lee-Lim from Chicago. Celebrities walking in these designs are Ta’Rhonda Jones in Conrad Booker, Kit Hoover in Kajan “Cake” Carlos and Vanna White in Grace Lee-Lim.

John Paul DeJoria and Buzz Aldrin to be honored at 2016 City Gala Fundraiser

Published by:

Screen Shot 2016-01-27 at 11.01.51 PM

The City Gala Fundraiser (http://www.CityGala.org) honors former astronaut Buzz Aldrin and American businessman and philanthropist John Paul DeJoria (co-founder, Paul Mitchell, John Paul Pet, ROK Mobile, and The Patron Spirits Company) at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles, immediately following The 58th Annual GRAMMYs® on Monday, February 15, 2016. City Gala 2016 benefits Community Inspiring Today’s Youth (CITY), a non-profit organization that supports and mentors underserved teens and young adults in developing their own start-up businesses in Los Angeles. Keynote speaker is entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Richard Branson (founder, Virgin Group).

Aldrin, an American engineer, former astronaut and the second person to walk on the moon, has supported charitable and philanthropic efforts through Buzz Aldrin’s Share Space Foundation. At the event, The City Gala will present Aldrin with the City Gala Lifetime Achievement Award.

Aldrin, age 86, says, “Well, I guess you could say that I’ve worked a lifetime to earn this award, and I’m blessed to receive it on such a beautiful charitable night, alongside some of the most brilliant minds of our time.”

DeJoria, a member of The Giving Pledge, has supported charitable and philanthropic efforts through his Peace, Love and Happiness Foundation for over a decade. At the event, The City Gala will present DeJoria the Legacy of Inspiration Award. The honor is meant to inspire other high net worth individuals to tell the story of their rise to success, their challenges, and ultimately their accomplishment of being able to give forward.

DeJoria says, “On the music industry’s biggest night, it is exciting to know that we have such an esteemed group of individuals coming together to celebrate and support CITY’s young entrepreneurs. Being honored by the organization supporting these kids is a reminder that we all had to start somewhere, and in the beginning, someone gave us a chance to succeed.”

Emcee for the night is Jeff Timmons of the Grammy-nominated pop group 98 Degrees. The event is an exclusive invitation-only black tie fundraiser featuring an open bar, open buffet, honor ceremonies, live musical entertainment, a charitable poker tournament, tours of the Playboy Mansion grounds, celebrity meet and greets, a fashion show, as well as a live and silent auction.

Sponsors include JetSmarter, Seed Invest, BELLA Magazine, OK! TV, Modern Luxury Angeleno, Hemp Blue, Imbue Model Management and AirVuz.

Funds raised at the charity gala will support CITY and its non-profit programs for LA youth, as well From the Heart Productions, Fire Life Foundation, The Scheer Foundation and Supporting Our Servicemen (SOS).

The first City Gala took place on Oscars night in 2014, featuring keynote speaker James Cameron and special guests Charlize Theron, Sean Penn, Halle Berry, Tyrese Gibson, Gene Simmons and Paris Hilton, as well as live musical entertainment provided by Ne-Yo. The event raised over $350,000 for charitable causes.

About CITY, the Host Foundation
Founded by Chandra Stovall in 2013, Community Inspiring Today’s Youth (CITY) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization based in Los Angeles, California. The organization provides structured business development programs and technical support to at-risk and underserved teens and young adults throughout Los Angeles, resulting in the establishment of their own small businesses. CITY’s students launch fully functioning businesses through its 46-week micro-entrepreneurship program, illustrating how CITY students graduate as well-trained entrepreneurs with a positive mindset for business.

About From the Heart Productions, the Fiscal Sponsor
From the Heart Productions, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is the fiscal sponsor for the CITY Gala 2016. Founder and president Carole Dean created the Roy W. Dean Grant in 1992. The grant awards cash, goods, and film services to financially struggling filmmakers who need help completing unique films that make a contribution to society. Donations to From the Heart support their initiatives to assist independent filmmakers, which include not only the grant, but also their fiscal sponsorship program that allows donors to films to get tax deductions, and the Intentional Filmmaking Class which teaches filmmakers the fine art of fundraising.

Laverne Cox Is Pretty In Pink at NAACP A-List Luncheon

Published by:

Laverne Cox+NAACP Image Awards Luncheon+PopSourceTV

The 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards Luncheon was held today at the Beverly Hills Hilton. The A-list affair was a posh event that seemed more like a “Who’s who in Hollywood.”  The red-carpet was flanked with gorgeous-ness and glamour!

We were glad to host at the event and gather insight from those who stopped by PopSource TV to chat. One of our favorites from the red carpet was non-other than one of People Magazines’ Most Beautiful celebrities, Laverne Cox. “A sight to behold,” as one onlooker described her. The OITNB star looked pretty in pink. Her look was one of the best of the day. Glam Odyssey!

It was recently announced that Cox is set to Play Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show TV Remake.

Other attendees included most of the “Black-ish” cast including Anthony Anderson, Yara Shahid and Marcus Scribner. Among the nominees in attendance were Tyrese, Skai Jackson, Naturi Naughton and Loretta Devine.

“The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination,” according to the organization.

Kathleen Bradley Celebrates Birthday in Style

Published by:

PopSource(7)

Kathleen Bradley was all smiles and the center of attention at her huge birthday bash held at the iconic Maverick’s Flat in Los Angeles Friday.

Bradley, who was a “Barker Beauty” from 1990-2000 is very iconic in the African-American Community. As evidence, her posh affair was filled with entertainment industry veterans who came out to congratulate the former model and actress.

Bradley was the first permanent African-American model on the “Price is Right”, which is America’s number-one-rated TV game show. Though she is a celebrated author, and speaker, most people will always remember her as the 5’9″ leggy beauty who graced the television screens of millions of Americans on a daily basis.

We were glad to be on hand to celebrate with Bradley, who wanted to personally greet and take photographs with each one of her guests. At one time Bradley was swarmed by a group of admirers on the carpet and without hesitation, the showbiz veteran said “Get in here, let’s take a picture – the more men the better” which made everyone in the adorning crowd burst into laughter.

In an exclusive interview with PopSource TV, Bradley says she hopes, “Her legacy will be that she was a giver, and a good mom and grandma.”
